👨🍳 Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish; set aside.
- Cook the ziti pasta according to package directions until al dente; drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil, then add the chopped onion and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant, then stir in the marinara sauce, salt, and black pepper; bring to a simmer.
- In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, half of the shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, and fresh basil; mix well.
- In the prepared baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom.
- Layer half of the cooked ziti over the sauce, then top with half of the ricotta mixture, and a layer of marinara sauce.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ziti, ricotta mixture, and top with the remaining marinara sauce and the rest of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly and the cheese is golden brown.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving to allow the layers to set.
