👨🍳 Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or pan over medium heat. Add finely chopped onion and red bell pepper, and sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Add the cooked black beans to the pan along with a few tablespoons of their cooking liquid or water, and stir in the Lizano sauce. Let it simmer gently for 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Fold in the cooked white rice, mixing well until the rice is evenly coated and heated through, and some of the beans' liquid is absorbed, giving it its characteristic speckled appearance.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste, then stir in the fresh chopped cilantro just before serving. Serve hot, often as a side or main breakfast dish.
