👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it with olive oil.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, grated onion, finely chopped parsley, cumin, allspice, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until everything is evenly combined.
  3. Form the meat mixture into small, flat patties or oval shapes and arrange them in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Bake the kofta in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until lightly browned. This step partially cooks the kofta and renders some fat.
  5. While the kofta bakes, prepare the tahini sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the tahini paste, lemon juice, minced garlic, a pinch of salt, and 1 cup of water until smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add more water, a tablespoon at a time, until it reaches a pourable consistency.
  6. Remove the kofta from the oven and pour the tahini sauce evenly over the patties. Return the dish to the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and slightly thickened.
  7. Serve Kofta bi Tahini hot, garnished with extra fresh parsley or pine nuts if desired. It's often enjoyed with pita bread or rice.
