- Banana Leaves 0 g · 0 kcal
- Bamboo Tube 0 g · 0 kcal
👨🍳 Instructions
- Soak glutinous rice in water for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, then drain well.
- Clean the bamboo tubes thoroughly and line their interiors with banana leaves, ensuring no gaps.
- Combine the drained glutinous rice with coconut milk and salt in a bowl, mixing until well incorporated.
- Carefully fill each banana leaf-lined bamboo tube with the rice mixture, leaving about 2-3 cm from the top.
- Pour a little extra coconut milk over the top of the rice in each tube, then seal the opening with more banana leaf.
- Place the bamboo tubes upright or slightly tilted against an open fire, rotating them occasionally to ensure even cooking for 4-8 hours until the rice is tender.
- Once cooked, remove the bamboo from the fire, cool slightly, then carefully split the bamboo to extract the lemang, which can be sliced into discs and served.
