Mongolian Beef

- Beef flank steak 500 g · 650 kcal
- Cornstarch 15 g · 50 kcal
- Vegetable oil 60 g · 530 kcal
- Soy sauce 135 g · 80 kcal
- Water 60 g · 0 kcal
- Brown sugar 100 g · 380 kcal
- Fresh ginger, minced 10 g · 8 kcal
- Garlic, minced 9 g · 13 kcal
- Green onions, chopped 60 g · 20 kcal
👨🍳 Instructions
- Thinly slice the flank steak against the grain, then toss with cornstarch until evenly coated. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, water, brown sugar, minced ginger, and minced garlic to create the sauce.
- Heat half of the vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Sear the beef in batches until browned and crispy, then remove and set aside.
- Add the remaining oil to the wok, then pour in the prepared sauce. Bring the sauce to a simmer, stirring constantly, until it thickens slightly.
- Return the seared beef to the wok and toss to coat it thoroughly with the thickened sauce. Stir in the chopped green onions, reserving some for garnish.
- Serve immediately over steamed rice, garnished with the reserved green onions.
