🛒 Ingredients
- Roasted rice flour 70 g · 252 kcal
- Grated coconut 30 g · 105 kcal
- Water 60 g · 0 kcal
👨🍳 Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the roasted rice flour with salt; gradually sprinkle water over the flour mixture, mixing with your fingertips until it forms a crumbly, moist consistency.
- If lumps form, gently break them up with your fingers or pass the mixture through a sieve to ensure a fine, even texture.
- Prepare a puttu maker by adding water to the bottom chamber and bringing it to a boil.
- Layer the puttu maker cylindrical mold: first a spoonful of grated coconut, then a layer of the prepared rice flour mixture, alternating until the mold is full, ending with coconut on top.
- Place the filled mold on top of the puttu maker and steam for 5-7 minutes, or until steam emerges from the top hole indicating it's cooked through.
- Carefully remove the puttu from the mold using a thin rod (often provided with the puttu maker) and serve hot with curries like Kadala curry or with banana and sugar/jaggery.
