👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, finely minced onion, breadcrumbs soaked in milk, egg, allspice, nutmeg, black pepper, and 1 tsp salt. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  2. Roll the mixture into small, bite-sized meatballs, about 2-3 cm in diameter. You should get about 20-24 meatballs.
  3. Heat half of the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the meatballs in batches, turning occasionally, until nicely seared on all sides. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux, stirring constantly.
  5. Gradually whisk in the beef broth, ensuring there are no lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat and stir in the heavy cream and soy sauce. Continue to simmer until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.
  6. Return the meatballs to the gravy and simmer for another 5-10 minutes, allowing them to heat through and absorb the flavors. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
  7. Serve hot, traditionally with mashed potatoes, lingonberry jam, and a sprinkle of fresh chopped dill or parsley.
