👨🍳 Instructions
- Prepare the cabbage: Carefully remove the core from a large head of cabbage. Blanch the whole cabbage in a large pot of boiling salted water for 10-15 minutes until leaves are pliable; carefully peel off individual leaves and trim any thick veins.
- Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, cooked white rice, finely diced onion, minced garlic, a pinch of paprika, dried marjoram, black pepper, and half of the measured salt. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
- Roll the cabbage rolls: Lay a blanched cabbage leaf flat. Place a spoonful of the turkey and rice filling near the stem end, fold in the sides, and then roll tightly from the stem end up to form a compact roll. Repeat with remaining leaves and filling.
- Prepare the sauce: In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add remaining diced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes; stir in remaining minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Simmer the rolls: Add crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, and remaining salt and pepper to the pot; bring the sauce to a simmer. Gently place the cabbage rolls into the simmering sauce, ensuring they are mostly submerged.
- Cook thoroughly: Cover the pot and simmer on low heat for 50-60 minutes, or until the cabbage is very tender and the filling is cooked through. Serve hot, optionally garnished with fresh dill or a dollop of sour cream.
