- Red wine vinegar 15 g · 3 kcal
- Dried oregano 1 g · 3 kcal
👨🍳 Instructions
- If using fresh octopus, clean it thoroughly by removing the beak, eyes, and ink sac; rinse well under cold water. For tenderizing, boil the octopus in water (without added salt) for 40-60 minutes, or until tender when pierced with a fork, then drain and let cool.
- Once cooled, cut the octopus into manageable pieces if it's large. In a bowl, combine the olive oil, red wine vinegar, dried oregano, and a pinch of salt and pepper to create a marinade.
- Add the pre-cooked octopus pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temperature, or ideally longer in the refrigerator.
- Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Place the marinated octopus pieces on the hot grill, reserving any remaining marinade.
- Grill for 2-4 minutes per side, brushing occasionally with the reserved marinade, until the octopus has nice char marks and is heated through. Be careful not to overcook, as it can become tough.
- Serve the Htapodi Sti Shara immediately, often garnished with fresh parsley and a lemon wedge for an extra burst of flavor.
