👨🍳 Instructions
- Press the extra-firm tofu for at least 20-30 minutes to remove excess water, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
- In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with a portion of the cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the coated tofu in a single layer and pan-fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove tofu from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Whisk together lemon juice, tamari, maple syrup, remaining cornstarch, and vegetable broth or water in a small bowl.
- Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until it thickens to a glossy consistency.
- Return the crispy tofu to the skillet, tossing gently to coat all cubes evenly with the lemon sauce. Serve immediately, optionally garnished with fresh herbs.
