👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Press the extra-firm tofu to remove excess water, then cut it into 1-inch cubes. In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  3. Remove the crispy tofu from the skillet and set aside. In a small bowl, whisk together orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, rice vinegar, maple syrup, and water.
  4. In the same skillet (add a little more oil if needed), sauté minced ginger and garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Pour the orange sauce mixture into the skillet. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Return the crispy tofu to the skillet with the sauce. Toss gently to coat all the tofu cubes evenly.
  7. Serve immediately, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Best enjoyed with steamed rice or noodles.
