Tofu Teriyaki

- Extra-firm Tofu 200 g · 150 kcal
- Soy Sauce 30 g · 20 kcal
- Mirin (Sweet Cooking Rice Wine) 15 g · 30 kcal
- Sake (Cooking Rice Wine) 15 g · 20 kcal
- Fresh Ginger (grated) 5 g · 4 kcal
- Garlic (minced) 3 g · 4 kcal
- Cornstarch 5 g · 18 kcal
- Water 15 g · 0 kcal
- Vegetable Oil 10 g · 90 kcal
- Toasted Sesame Seeds 3 g · 17 kcal
- Green Onions (chopped) 2 g · 1 kcal
👨🍳 Instructions
- Press extra-firm tofu for 15-30 minutes to remove excess water, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, grated ginger, and minced garlic; set aside. In a separate small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add tofu cubes and pan-fry for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- Reduce heat to medium, pour the teriyaki sauce mixture over the tofu, and bring to a simmer. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring gently, until the sauce thickens and coats the tofu.
- Remove from heat. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
