👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Press extra-firm tofu for 15-30 minutes to remove excess water, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, grated ginger, and minced garlic; set aside. In a separate small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add tofu cubes and pan-fry for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  4. Reduce heat to medium, pour the teriyaki sauce mixture over the tofu, and bring to a simmer. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring gently, until the sauce thickens and coats the tofu.
  5. Remove from heat. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
