🛒 Ingredients

  • Fresh corn kernels 200 g · 172 kcal
  • Milk 30 g · 18 kcal
  • Butter 15 g · 108 kcal
  • White fresh cheese 50 g · 150 kcal

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Combine fresh corn kernels, milk, a pinch of salt, and the added sugar in a blender; process until a relatively smooth, thick batter forms, leaving some texture from the corn.
  2. Melt a small amount of butter in a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat, ensuring it coats the surface.
  3. Pour about 1/2 cup of the corn batter onto the hot pan to form an arepa approximately 10-12 cm in diameter; cook for 4-6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. During the last minute of cooking, place slices of white fresh cheese on one side of the arepa, then fold it in half to allow the cheese to melt slightly.
  5. Remove the arepa from the pan and serve immediately while warm, optionally with additional butter or a dollop of sour cream.
