👨🍳 Instructions
- Core and thinly slice the red cabbage. Peel and thinly slice the onion and apple.
- Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté until softened and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the sliced red cabbage and apple to the pot. Stir well to combine with the onion and oil.
- Pour in the apple cider vinegar, red wine, and water. Add brown sugar, salt, black pepper, bay leaves, and whole cloves.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is very tender.
- Remove bay leaves and whole cloves before serving. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot as a side dish.
