👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Core and thinly slice the red cabbage. Peel and thinly slice the onion and apple.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté until softened and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the sliced red cabbage and apple to the pot. Stir well to combine with the onion and oil.
  4. Pour in the apple cider vinegar, red wine, and water. Add brown sugar, salt, black pepper, bay leaves, and whole cloves.
  5. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is very tender.
  6. Remove bay leaves and whole cloves before serving. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot as a side dish.
