🛒 Ingredients

  • Ciabatta bread 100 g · 270 kcal
  • Yellow onions 200 g · 80 kcal
  • Olive oil 14 g · 120 kcal
  • Provolone cheese 50 g · 170 kcal
  • Unsalted butter 5 g · 36 kcal
  • Balsamic vinegar 5 g · 10 kcal

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Thinly slice the yellow onions and heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the sliced onions with a pinch of salt and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for 30-40 minutes until deeply golden brown and very soft.
  2. Stir in the balsamic vinegar during the last 5 minutes of cooking the onions, allowing it to reduce and glaze the onions.
  3. Slice the ciabatta roll horizontally and spread a thin layer of butter on the cut sides. Layer provolone cheese on one half, followed by a generous amount of caramelized onions.
  4. Close the panini and place it in a preheated panini press or on a griddle pan over medium heat. Grill for 3-5 minutes, or until the bread is golden and crispy, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
