  • Garlic 5 g · 7 kcal
  • Canned Crushed Tomatoes 100 g · 20 kcal
  • Olive Oil 15 g · 130 kcal

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Wash and trim the green beans; if they are long, you can snap them in half. Finely chop the onion and mince the garlic.
  2. In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it. Stir in the trimmed green beans.
  4. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and add about 1/2 cup of water, salt, and black pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  5. Cover the pot and reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for 30-40 minutes, or until the green beans are tender and the sauce has thickened slightly. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Fasolia bi Zait is traditionally served at room temperature or chilled, often with fresh pita bread and a side of raw onions or fresh mint.
