🛒 Ingredients

  • Nopales (cactus paddles) 200 g · 28 kcal
  • Olive oil 7 g · 60 kcal
  • Garlic powder 1 g · 3 kcal
  • Onion, sliced 25 g · 10 kcal
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped 4 g · 1 kcal
  • Lime wedges 25 g · 0 kcal

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Carefully clean the nopales by scraping off any thorns and eyes with a knife, then rinse them thoroughly under cold water. Pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. Brush both sides of the nopales with olive oil and season generously with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. If using, add sliced onion to the nopales.
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the seasoned nopales (and onion, if using) directly on the grill.
  4. Grill for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the nopales are tender and slightly charred. Flip them once to ensure even cooking.
  5. Remove the nopales from the grill, garnish with fresh cilantro, and serve immediately with lime wedges for squeezing.
