🛒 Ingredients

  • Nopal cactus paddles 200 g · 32 kcal
  • Olive oil 15 g · 130 kcal
  • Lime juice 20 g · 6 kcal
  • Garlic 5 g · 7 kcal

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Carefully clean the nopales paddles by scraping off any thorns and prickly bits, then rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Slice the nopales into strips or leave them whole, as preferred.
  2. In a bowl, toss the nopales with olive oil, minced garlic, a pinch of salt, and freshly ground black pepper to coat evenly.
  3. Preheat a grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat. Place the seasoned nopales directly on the hot grill.
  4. Grill for 3-4 minutes per side, or until tender and lightly charred, with distinct grill marks. The nopales should soften and lose their slimy texture.
  5. Remove the grilled nopales from the heat and squeeze fresh lime juice over them. Serve immediately as a side dish, in tacos, or as part of a salad.
