👨🍳 Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast; let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt, then add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix until a shaggy dough forms, then turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 60-90 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to the highest setting (typically 230-260°C or 450-500°F) with a baking stone or inverted baking sheet inside.
- Gently punch down the risen dough, divide it into 4 equal portions, and roll each into a thin, round flatbread (about 6-8 inches in diameter).
- Carefully transfer one flatbread to the hot baking stone/sheet; bake for 2-4 minutes until it puffs up and the bottom is golden brown.
- Flip the khubz and bake for another 1-2 minutes until the other side is also lightly browned, then remove and repeat with remaining dough.
