  • Olive Oil 14 g · 122 kcal
  • Onion, chopped 50 g · 20 kcal
  • Garlic, minced 5 g · 7 kcal
  • Crushed Tomatoes (canned) 100 g · 20 kcal
  • Water 25 g · 0 kcal

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Wash and trim the green beans, then cut them into 2-inch pieces. Prepare the onion by finely chopping it, and mince the garlic.
  2. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and green beans to the pot, stirring well to coat the beans. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and water, then season with salt and pepper, adding a pinch of sugar if desired to balance acidity. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 30-40 minutes, or until the green beans are very tender and the sauce has thickened. Stir occasionally.
  6. Remove from heat and let it cool. Loubieh bi Zait is traditionally served at room temperature or chilled, often with fresh pita bread or rice.
