- Boiled Yuca (Cassava) 150 g · 250 kcal
- Fresh Cheese (Queso Fresco) 30 g · 90 kcal
- Unsalted Butter 5 g · 36 kcal
- Vegetable Oil (for frying) 10 g · 90 kcal
👨🍳 Instructions
- Peel the yuca roots and cut them into large pieces. Boil the yuca in salted water until very tender, about 20-30 minutes.
- Drain the yuca thoroughly and mash it while still hot, removing any fibrous strands. Add the butter and a pinch of salt to the mashed yuca, mixing until well combined and smooth.
- Take a portion of the yuca dough and flatten it in your palm to form an oval shape. Place a small amount of fresh cheese in the center, then carefully fold the dough over the cheese and seal the edges to form a muchín.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or pot over medium-high heat until it reaches about 175°C (350°F). Carefully place the muchines into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides, turning occasionally. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels before serving hot.
