👨🍳 Instructions
- Wash moong dal thoroughly and soak in water for 15-20 minutes, then drain.
- Cook the soaked dal with fresh water and turmeric powder until it is soft and mushy, using a pressure cooker or stovetop.
- Add thick coconut milk and green chili to the cooked dal, simmer gently for a few minutes while stirring occasionally; avoid vigorous boiling.
- In a separate small pan, heat coconut oil for tempering. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- Add sliced shallots, dried red chili, and curry leaves to the tempering pan; sauté until shallots turn golden brown.
- Pour the hot tempering over the simmering dal, stir gently, and serve immediately with rice or flatbread.
