  1. Clean the portobello mushroom by gently wiping it with a damp cloth; remove the stem.
  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, minced garlic, salt, and pepper to create a marinade.
  3. Place the mushroom cap gill-side down in the marinade and let it marinate for at least 5-10 minutes, flipping once.
  4. Heat a grill pan or outdoor grill to medium-high heat and grill the mushroom for 5-7 minutes per side, until tender and lightly charred.
