👨🍳 Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt. Gradually add water, mixing until a soft, pliable dough forms. Add a teaspoon of oil and knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes. Divide the dough into equal small balls, about the size of a golf ball.
- Lightly dust your work surface with flour. Roll out each dough ball into a thin, round disc, about 6-8 inches in diameter, ensuring it's evenly thin.
- Heat a tawa (flat griddle) or a heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat until hot. Place one rolled roti on the hot tawa.
- Cook for about 30 seconds until small bubbles appear on the surface, then flip. Cook for another 30 seconds on the second side.
- For puffed roti, you can gently press the edges with a clean cloth or spatula after the second flip. Continue cooking until the roti puffs up completely and has light brown spots.
- Remove the cooked roti from the tawa and serve immediately, optionally brushing with a little ghee or butter.
