👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Rinse 60g Toor Dal thoroughly under running water, then soak it in fresh water for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Drain the soaked dal and cook it with 300ml of fresh water and 1g turmeric powder in a pressure cooker for 3-4 whistles, or in a pot until very soft.
  3. In a separate pan, heat 10g ghee over medium heat and add 1g cumin seeds; let them splutter.
  4. Add 50g chopped onion and sauté until golden brown, then stir in 5g chopped garlic, 5g grated ginger, and 3g chopped green chili.
  5. Add 50g chopped tomato, 1g coriander powder, 1g garam masala, and salt to taste. Cook until tomatoes soften and the mixture thickens.
  6. Pour the cooked dal into the spice mixture, stir well, and simmer for 5-7 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  7. Garnish with 5g fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or bread.
