  • All-purpose flour 75 g · 274 kcal
  • Warm water 40 g · 0 kcal
  • Instant yeast 2 g · 0 kcal
  • Olive oil 15 g · 135 kcal
  • Za'atar mix 15 g · 60 kcal

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, and a pinch of sugar and salt. Gradually add warm water and knead for 5-7 minutes until a smooth and elastic dough forms.
  2. Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 60-90 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  3. While the dough is rising, prepare the za'atar topping. In a small bowl, combine the za'atar mix with olive oil until it forms a thick paste.
  4. Once the dough has risen, gently deflate it and divide it into equal small balls. On a lightly floured surface, flatten each ball into a thin round disk.
  5. Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F). Spread a generous layer of the za'atar and olive oil mixture over each dough disk, leaving a small border around the edges.
  6. Place the manakeesh on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the topping is fragrant and bubbling.
  7. Serve the Za'atar Manakeesh warm, optionally accompanied by fresh vegetables, olives, or labneh for a complete meal.
