👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Clean the fish thoroughly and cut into desired serving pieces, then rinse with salt water and set aside.
  2. Peel and dice the yam into small, bite-sized cubes; finely chop the onion, mince the scotch bonnet pepper, ginger, and garlic.
  3. In a pot, combine the fish, diced yam, chopped onion, minced ginger, garlic, and pepper. Add seasoning cube(s) and salt to taste.
  4. Pour in enough water to cover the ingredients and bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Add the ground Uziza seeds, Ehwuru, and chopped Utazi leaves. Stir gently and cook for another 5-7 minutes, until the fish is cooked through and the yam is tender.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, then serve hot and enjoy your authentic Fish Pepper Soup.
