👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Season the fish fillets with lime juice, salt, and black pepper. Let marinate for 15-20 minutes while preparing other ingredients.
  2. In a large, heavy-bottomed pot (preferably a clay pot), layer half of the sliced onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, and minced garlic.
  3. Arrange the marinated fish fillets over the vegetable layer, then top with the remaining half of the onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, and garlic.
  4. Drizzle the dendê oil and pour the coconut milk evenly over the layers. Sprinkle with half of the fresh cilantro.
  5. Cover the pot and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flaky.
  6. Garnish with the remaining fresh cilantro and serve hot, traditionally with white rice and pirão.
