👨🍳 Instructions
- Season the fish fillets with salt, pepper, and lime juice. In a large pot, heat half of the olive oil over medium heat.
- Sauté the chopped onion, garlic, and bell pepper until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook for another 3-5 minutes.
- Pour in the water or fish broth and bring to a simmer. Gently add the seasoned fish fillets to the simmering liquid and cook for 5-7 minutes, until cooked through.
- Remove the fish from the pot and set aside to cool slightly. Flake the fish into pieces, removing any bones and skin.
- Return the pot with the broth to medium-low heat. Slowly add the cassava flour, whisking constantly to avoid lumps, until the mixture thickens into a smooth porridge.
- Stir in the flaked fish and the remaining olive oil. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the Pirão de Peixe hot, garnished with fresh chopped cilantro or parsley.
