🛒 Ingredients

  • Red Snapper fillet 180 g · 180 kcal
  • Fresh ginger 20 g · 16 kcal
  • Scallions 40 g · 13 kcal
  • Light soy sauce 22 g · 11 kcal
  • Sesame oil 5 g · 45 kcal
  • Fresh cilantro 5 g · 1 kcal

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Pat the snapper fillet dry with paper towels; score the skin a few times if desired, then place it on a heatproof plate.
  2. Thinly slice half of the fresh ginger and half of the scallions; arrange these slices over the snapper fillet.
  3. Prepare a steamer with boiling water. Place the plate with the snapper into the steamer, cover, and steam for 10-12 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flaky.
  4. While the fish is steaming, thinly slice the remaining fresh ginger into matchsticks and finely chop the remaining scallions and fresh cilantro for garnish.
  5. Once the fish is cooked, carefully remove the plate from the steamer. Remove the cooked ginger and scallions from the fish, as their flavor might be too strong after steaming.
  6. Garnish the steamed snapper with the fresh matchstick ginger, chopped scallions, and cilantro. Drizzle with light soy sauce and sesame oil just before serving.
